We're Here!

18 Feb

Yes, we are now in the Olympic host city of Vancouver! We even have a very sunny day, and a lot of activities planned.

We will be visiting the 2010 Aboriginal Pavilon, where they are celebrating International Indigenous Day. It should be a great opportunity to learn more about the co-host of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, the Four Host First Nations. We’ll also be visiting some other sites around the city, so look for some pictures on the mobile blog here. Then we’re off to Whistler for the weekend!

Here we are in Vancouver with our friend Janel, who we are staying with (her parents too) in Vancouver and Whistler!

Mellisa Hollingsworth

Mellisa Hollingsworth: Skeleton

If you think Halloween skeletons are scary, try hurdling headfirst down an icy track at 100km per hour – now THAT’s frightening! But if you’re World Skeleton champion Mellisa Hollingsworth, you wouldn’t have it any other way. Mellisa almost quit Skeleton after she didn’t make the Olympic team in 2002 – but it’s a good thing she didn’t! After picking up an Olympic Bronze medal in 2006, and winning this year’s World Cup, Melissa is on track to take home the Gold in Vancouver! This is one Canadian to keep your eye on – though it’ll look pretty blurry at the speed she’s going!
